Excuses? Chalk full of them. Ashamed? Very. I've always tried to be the girl who stuck to something once she committed to it but sometimes life gets in the way of our plans and ambitions. However, I do plan on writing about my fashion interests again just on another platform. I've recently accepted an internship as a college fashion blogger for the College Fashionista if you are interested in reading my articles please leave your email as a comment and I will gladly share my work with you :) It's the same HC just on a different platform!HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-18776745047765057582011-07-17T12:09:00.000-07:002011-07-17T12:27:18.582-07:00Falling For You<div style="position:relative;width:500px;height:500px;"><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/fallin_for_fall/set?.embedder=17793&.mid=embed&id=34158331"><img width="500" alt="Fallin' for Fall" src="http://embed.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/cid/34158331/id/7Gi1KKiw4BGvL3a5-F9LMQ/size/x.jpg" title="Fallin' for Fall" height="500" border="0" force="1" /></a></div><br /><div><small><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/fallin_for_fall/set?.embedder=17793&.mid=embed&id=34158331">Fallin' for Fall</a> by <a href="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/profile?.embedder=17793&.mid=embed&id=17793&name=vivalachanel">vivalachanel</a> featuring a <a href="http://www.polyvore.com/long_skirts/shop?category_id=10">maxi skirt</a></small></div><div><br /></div><div>Be it spring, fall, or the seasons in between; each season offers every individual a new opportunity to fall head-over-heels-practically-dizzy in love with the latest designer innovations. During this time I am reminded why I love fashion to the extent that I do. Fashion allows you to script your own movie, write lyrics to the song of your life, express to others about your individuality. For the quickly approaching autumn I have fallen (pun definitely intended) for chunky knit cropped sweaters and ponchos, sheer maxi skirts, and desert boots. Although I have pledged my love for some of these items before, namely <a href="http://hautecalifornian.blogspot.com/2011/01/sheer-thing.html">maxi skirts</a> and chunky cardigans, there versatility and classic beauty makes them a staple for the cold weather season. I can't wait to pair the above items with floral accents, Native American inspired jewelry, and rainbow shades of denim. </div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-48521213507388765122011-06-28T22:26:00.001-07:002011-06-28T22:56:08.646-07:00Guilty Pleasures.<div style="text-align: center;">On unexpectedly gloomy rainstorm days like the one I experienced today, I usually feel immobile and uninspired. I instantly get the urge to find my warmest cardigan, snuggle up underneath my comforter, and watch hours of television (currently USA's new drama <a href="http://usanetwork.com/series/Suits">Suits</a> on the cue) and eat clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl a la Boudins. However, today not the wind nor the cold rain could prevent the joy in my heart over my latest purchases from circulating heat. I had recently discussed about my quest to return to go <a href="http://hautecalifornian.blogspot.com/2011/06/back-to-classics.html">back to the classics</a> with my wardrobe, today I accomplished crossing off item number 3: the perfect white slouchy T. The purchase was absolutely guilt-free because it was something I knew I would be incorporating into various outfits. I also grabbed a couple of other necessities that will be sustained for a long time.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05888.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05888.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05888.jpg" target="_blank"></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05890.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05890.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05894.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05894.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">This lightweight acrylic top features a high slit that makes it perfect for a beach cover-up in the summer and a layering piece for the fall.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05897.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05897.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05896.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05896.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05901.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05901.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05902.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05902.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05906.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05906.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">For this photo I incorporated my previous VS Pink laptop case purchase and an old PINK perfume gift set box that holds my bath and beauty products (seen <a href="http://hautecalifornian.blogspot.com/2010/09/colorful-approach-to-organization.html">HERE</a>) with my recent purchases from Victoria's Secret: a planner and a sustainable water bottle and my other recent purchase a cut-off sweatshirt from Ross. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05910.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05910.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05917.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05917.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Beach day chic at it's finest with embellished cut-offs, bright bikini pieces, a straw sunhat, and a printed tube top. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05919.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05919.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05920.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05920.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div> <div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">With items like these nothing could rain on my parade. These brands remind to have the same sense of adventure and wonderment I had when I was a child; the freedom to believe that anything is possible with the right amount of determination. When I recently spotted Hurley's Fall Lookbook on Facebook, despite rising temperatures, I could not help but to jump the gun and post about there future cold-weather gear. Inspired by the "military, prep, and the Americana worker" this lookbook is a compilation of deconstructed T's, quintessential US prints (think plaid and stripes), cargo pants, and blue-collaresque shoes (my favorite is the modern take on the leather work-boot). I was pleasantly surprised with Hurley's modern approach to industrial pieces. Hurley reaffirmed what I love about surf/skate lifestyle brands, the ability to invoke the sensation of being young, wild, and free.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#0000EE;"><u><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><br /></span></u></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=251621_10150206872965810_43289940809_7657425_3897647_n.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/251621_10150206872965810_43289940809_7657425_3897647_n.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=248686_10150206873190810_43289940809_7657434_3189268_n.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/248686_10150206873190810_43289940809_7657434_3189268_n.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=255196_10150206872810810_43289940809_7657419_4239771_n.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/255196_10150206872810810_43289940809_7657419_4239771_n.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">More looks from Hurley can be seen <a href="http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150206872720810.310000.43289940809">here</a>.</div></div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-60418169190869550232011-06-20T21:21:00.000-07:002011-06-20T22:03:53.211-07:00OOTD: Get Your Shine On<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05869.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05869.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05870-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05870-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05871.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05871.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05873-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05873-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><br /></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Top:</i> ZOA New York, <i>Bandeau:</i> Full Tilt by Tillys, <i>Shorts:</i> AE Metallic Denim Shortie, <i>Purse:</i> Amici Accessories from Nordstroms BP,<i> Shoes:</i> Carlos by Carlos Santana, <i>Scarf</i> (worn as a turban): Vintage</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05884-1-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05884-1-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC05883-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05883-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">A wise woman once said, "Ladies never sweat, they glisten." Despite aftermaths of intense workout sessions at the gym, where not sweating was not even an option, I have always remembered this saying. Today as the temperatures rose to an unbearable 94 degrees, instead of breaking a sweat, I chose to let myself shine. Today I indulged in some shimmer as I paired my sequined pocket tunic with my silver glimmer shorts and accessorized with a brass studded leather bag and patent sandals. I was also inspired by <a href="http://becauseimaddicted.net/">Because Im Addicted</a> to try one of her ways to tie a turban using my cool gray leopard print scarf. The combination of animal print and metallic pieces were just what I needed to keep my cool throughout the day. </div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-15010498719034456022011-06-18T22:54:00.001-07:002011-06-18T23:18:41.496-07:00Back to the Classics.<div style="text-align: center;">There comes a point in time in an individuals life when they begin to feel comfortable in their own skin. No longer intrigued with the bells and whistles of outlandish behavior, these individuals choose to act in a manner that closely reflects themselves. My life has been shaped by various experiences that make me who I am today and my style has always reflected that. I have previously discussed a couple of coming-of-age stories (see: <a href="http://hautecalifornian.blogspot.com/2010/08/bts-blues.html" back="" to="" school="" blues=""></a>) where my style was a direct reflection of how I felt at the time. It is even visible in how I presented myself this previous school year-a myriad of backless tops, lacey bandeaus, and sheer panels for nights out-what image I was trying to portray. However, as the years progress I learn more about myself; my likes, dislikes, what works for my body, what doesn't, and so on and so forth and it's allowing me to find a style that expresses who I am without being excessively ornate. Lately I have been attracted to simpler items that are not only versatile but will also last me a lifetime. It's the dawning of a new era: the call for simple colors and clean-cut silhouettes. Every artist needs a blank canvas to build a masterpiece. I believe it's time for me to wipe my slate clean in an effort to let my personal style and personality to shine through. </div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=BackToTheClassics-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/BackToTheClassics-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=BackToTheClassics-1.jpg" target="_blank"></a>1. I'll watch any show at least once and I have a particular soft spot for teenage dramas. Although filled with juicy hookups, pregnancy scares, and forbidden love affairs my attraction to these shows is also due to something more tangible as a viewer - the character's wardrobe. Every fall I look forward to swooning over Serena Van Der Woodsen's boho chic style that is a mix of high-end designer pieces and frugal finds, put together in a way that accurately reflects the Upper East Side's wild child. I watched lovingly as Betty Suarez transformed from Ugly Betty into a self-confident and assured writer. However my ultimate favorite show for style scouting is 90210. In the second season the wardrobe stylist was able to cultivate distinct styles for each character that expressed their personality and aspirations. You can typically find aspiring theatre star Annie dress in Urban Outfitters chic, Naomi who just recently come into her trust fund would wear nothing but designer labels, and Silver the aspiring journalist bears an uncanny resemblance to <a href="http://theglamourai.com/">The Glamourai</a>. Of all of these fashionistas, Ivy's style is the most intriguing. When Ivy came during the second season it was obvious her character was not a girl's girl. Her hoarse voice and sarcastic demeanor repelled the Beverly Hill's girls but allowed her to be successful in becoming one of the guys. Be raised by a single mother, a free spirit who owns her own record company; Ivy developed into a self sufficient teen who inconsequently has more luck surfing the waves than finding the right guy. What drew me to Ivy's style is the bohemian and California surf feel to each piece of clothing; something that can also be seen off-camera by actress Gillian Zinser. Here are some of my favorite looks from the star:<br /><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=tumblr_lj2yirHw8M1qic6tso1_500_large.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/tumblr_lj2yirHw8M1qic6tso1_500_large.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=tumblr_lj2yirHw8M1qic6tso1_500_large.jpg" target="_blank"></a><br /><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=Gillian_Zinser_2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/Gillian_Zinser_2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=Gillian_Zinser_2.jpg" target="_blank"></a><br /><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=90210-60sthemedepisode.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/90210-60sthemedepisode.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=90210-60sthemedepisode.jpg" target="_blank"></a><br /><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=gillianzinser6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/gillianzinser6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=gillianzinser6.jpg" target="_blank"></a><br /><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=ivy10.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/ivy10.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=ivy10.jpg" target="_blank"></a></div><br /><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=213573019_large.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/213573019_large.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><br /><br />I can't wait to see what the stylist dresses the girls in for the first year of college in the upcoming season!HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-26158388257003619732011-06-12T22:21:00.001-07:002011-06-12T23:43:42.292-07:00Express Yourself.<div style="text-align: center;">Every summer I take the time to reflect on my current style - how far my style has evolved, what my style has done for me (the impressions it gives off and how people perceive me because of it), and most importantly decide whether or not my style is cohesive with how I view myself. It may seem silly to others but I think that I am not alone in thinking that fashion is a self-expressive art, to communicate the wrong message is to misrepresent oneself. So I enjoy taking time to see how far I have come and where I want to go - in fashion and in my life. I use the summertime to bury my nose in books released by the power players in the industry (my most recent purchases are <a href="http://www.amazon.com/What-Wear-Where-How--Situation/dp/0810997037/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307942996&sr=8-1">What to Wear, Where</a> and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Stylists-Insiders-Guide-Styling/dp/0811874656/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1307943026&sr=1-1">Secrets of Stylists</a>) and in my favorite magazines. I scour my favorite blogs (which I recklessly abandoned over the school year but finally was able to read all of my unread Bloglovin subscriptions) and save inspiring photos. Through this process I learn about myself and hopefully get that much closer in expressing who I am. Looks can be deceiving and it is my belief that we should always be crystal clear. Here are some things that I am currently inspired by at the mo'.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=tumblr_lmh4h81V4z1qf7ikto1_500.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/tumblr_lmh4h81V4z1qf7ikto1_500.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=Tumblr-CuteOutfit.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/Tumblr-CuteOutfit.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=tumblr_lik5eoui111qcagvfo1_500.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/tumblr_lik5eoui111qcagvfo1_500.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=WhereDidYouGetThat.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/WhereDidYouGetThat.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=VanessaHudgens-Coachella2011.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/VanessaHudgens-Coachella2011.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=VanessaHudgens-Coachella2011.jpg" target="_blank"></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=KateBosworth-Coachella2011.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/KateBosworth-Coachella2011.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=RosieHuntington-Whiteley.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/RosieHuntington-Whiteley.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=AshleyTisdale.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/AshleyTisdale.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=BridgetBardot-Tumblr.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/BridgetBardot-Tumblr.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=BeachRat-PlanetBlueLookbook.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/BeachRat-PlanetBlueLookbook.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=Rihanna-SketchesfromWhatsMyName.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/Rihanna-SketchesfromWhatsMyName.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">Do you guys do anything over the summer in a way to amend your style? This combination is sure to excite your optical and tactile senses, creating the ultimate sensory experience. Recently coming home from a long quarter of studying at my college I was excited to put my juxtaposition knowledge to the test at Urban Outfitters. Never intending to buy anything I tried on a multitude of outfits: a distressed knitted oversized Cheap Monday sweater with cheetah-print hot pants, a crocheted orange tank top with a leather miniskirt, and my favorite a lightly distressed beige crop top with a striped skirt (both had zippers in the back). I was so in love with the 60s secretary (a la <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0309530/">Down With Love</a>)feel that this outfit gave me that I couldn't help but to bring those babies home. What makes these pieces even more loveable is that they can each hold their own in my closet ensuring a multitude of texturized outfits to come.</div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 282px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIt4g6d3K7BMdcXDU-pPS8G0JR2dUTN_AMC1jmVG0wO1cCZ3PDbJA1MwoeQyzrfagpJJ2-QdjVpAOUoWOpXOZAHEPQCwyHbi-uy-v8UWxB1IqeU43HJFahZoiyimVxxYxba20mE6wY1Yw/s400/DSC05862.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616403790686141954" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVPpsUjViMXPSFbVqC2slCuBhunSbSK-DT7YZuhTXCzc7iVBdzNpnXRjbNkntC3AHK14nBv2fHziT-G1CZhYg44pgrF2CCoV7JfM1_eHfP_y9nc_SxB2-kb5Rcftju1n7tmirh9M-VEL0/s400/DSC05866.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616403798881792802" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizmulpljEyYCu8MaqZ8KVzo2aJ3-JWFDd3lW0IxVTLOl9WesIbA05kSl-zEASMs_ZZo1TApp0nDTYNbWtiZ7KRP9JKjI1URqGBJ6Z1qlguynH6eNVpP-WQddPQUPOTOrypBYosEMorlig/s400/DSC05865.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616403808687985202" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicMDj5gEqSEx968wXd7OdlGuwOmCKr0BYg3dr6kJ1zU3Apq7oz0JcxZKOc8GCy6jYnwJmNMJaCSzyxNAY55TBNIcQzHGYobkQosg933RgFeRgBXIcIHNjxITjcidDlCOwikL6S7WkQkCA/s400/DSC05864.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616403811563448258" /><div style="text-align: center;">(Silence + Noise top and BDG skirt both from <a href="http://urbanoutfitters.com/">Urban Outfitters</a> )</div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-17240324440944627322011-02-06T00:43:00.000-08:002011-02-06T00:54:01.348-08:00Currently Inspired By...<img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://c.gigcount.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEyOTY5ODE4MDIzNzkmcHQ9MTI5Njk4MTgwOTMzMSZwPTk4NjE1MiZkPSZnPTEmbz*3MzAxNWNjYzdlZjk*YmY4ODQ*/ODQyNjFiYzc1NGU5NyZvZj*w.gif" /><center><embed src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9?isVid=1&isUI=1" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashVars="videoId=772779844001&playerID=4459840001&playerKey=AQ~~,AAAAAEBQPsI~,NInmLISfOk_iFP8AfcxuuoZJj2PqvNIV&domain=embed&dynamicStreaming=true&autoStart=false" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" name="flashObj" width="420" height="320" seamlesstabbing="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" swLiveConnect="true" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed><div style="font:bold 11px verdana;width:420px"><a href="http://www.slack-time.com/music-videos/artists/Rihanna.shtml">Rihanna</a> - <a href="http://www.slack-time.com/music-video-11248-Rihanna-SM" target="_blank">S&M</a></div></center><br />As if the catchy chorus, the raunchy lyrics, and the upbeat tempo wasn't enough; Rihanna proves once again to be a good girl gone bad in her "S&M" music video. I was inspired by her continuous costume changes that featured a surge of bright colors and promiscuous props. Rihanna continuously pushes the envelope when it comes to her style and her hair, influencing others to use fashion as a form of self-expression. Although I'm partial to my relaxed California chic look, Rihanna's indulgence in patent leather, midriff bearing tops, and booty shorts in the video made me want to hit the gym and try the looks ASAP. Although not as extremely, I think we can all attest to expressing our inner wild child so go on and dress unique and daring today. Sometimes it's good to be a little bad.HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-8210234877778031772011-01-22T16:25:00.000-08:002011-01-22T16:42:12.199-08:00A Sheer Thing.<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=FreePeopleJanuaryLookbook-7.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/FreePeopleJanuaryLookbook-7.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">As the years have gone by it seems that dresses and skirts have gotten shorter and shorter, making what used to be a scandalous amount of leg appear to be the norm. But as the age old saying goes: what goes up, must come down. This season, runways were flooded with mid-length to floor grazing skirts. However as well know when trying to beat the heat, the last thing we need is a long skirt to bring us down; no matter how chic! However I've spotted a happy medium: sheer skirts. These transparent garments are the sauciest way to update lengthy skirts. Now you flaunt your summer tans and maintain a hint of mystery. With celebrities and fashion shows already sporting the look, I have a feeling this is going to be one hot new trend. Will you be rocking a long sheer skirt for the Spring/Summer season?</div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=FreePeopleJanuaryLookbook-7.jpg" target="_blank"></a><div style="text-align: center;"> <a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=FreePeopleJanuaryLookbook-5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/FreePeopleJanuaryLookbook-5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">(Free People Mesh Skirt, $58)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=FreePeopleJanuaryLookbook-5.jpg" target="_blank"></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=HalleBerry-GoldenGlobeAwards2011.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/HalleBerry-GoldenGlobeAwards2011.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">(Halle Berry at the Golden Globes 2011 in Kaufman Franco)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiVXZcp6DngwsFhSOpPfu7-NtM_F8slJgmPv5bmyS0OqJgWaq-6I1T9Cdx_ziMf4T6x3iYpRlW1d3ds1Gbu0XQC2j_isO5LYrEPydIGkXGZ1wCUuJ8YwZX6mxr3kXFhVpUnwFIWh-WtfY/s1600/Slide1.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiVXZcp6DngwsFhSOpPfu7-NtM_F8slJgmPv5bmyS0OqJgWaq-6I1T9Cdx_ziMf4T6x3iYpRlW1d3ds1Gbu0XQC2j_isO5LYrEPydIGkXGZ1wCUuJ8YwZX6mxr3kXFhVpUnwFIWh-WtfY/s400/Slide1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565174840115554642" style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></a></div><div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=FreePeopleJanuaryLookbook-5.jpg" target="_blank"></a></div></div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-53050274129377834892011-01-20T17:54:00.000-08:002011-01-20T18:48:58.278-08:00J'Adore Paris<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=2011-01-19_lookbook.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/2011-01-19_lookbook.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=2011-01-19_lookbook.jpg" target="_blank"></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I love LOVE. The feeling, the action, the falling into, and the very idea of love makes me swoon. Just a four letter word can be an inspiration and a motivator for everyday life. Love is paradise. Nothing says love more romantically than cozy chateaus, picnics in the park with baguettes and brie, and the infatuation with a man who does not know a word of English. So when I got this newsletter from Free People about the Parisian chic twist made to their otherwise very bohemian collection, it was love at first sight. Looking through the January lookbook I felt inspired to infuse the feeling of mysterious foreign adoration into my wardrobe with French accents. Feeling the love? I recommend adding sequined stripes, lace, denim jackets, and chic flats to give your spring wardrobe a European flair. Warning: You might find Jacques are now at your disposal. Although skeptical of this exercise (I didn't see how my personal transitions effected my preferences in my wardrobe) I took the time to write down every prominent and compare them to my style at that time. In doing this I found that my fashion choices coincided with what was going on in my personal life. For instance, my sophomore year in high school was a time where I was "the new girl" in my group of friends, I wanted nothing more than to fit in and be accepted. During this time I chose to dress like my peers; which had me searching for the perfect pair of Hollister jeans and Uggs to complete my typical high school girl look. A similar turn of events came during the summer of my senior year. I wanted to look older, edgy even which is why I took this time period to shop at Urban Outfitters on the search for the chained and studded everything. Our personal goals and situations have a great effect on what we wear. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;">I bring this up because the New Year is fast approaching, what better way to express your new goals for the New Year than a couple of improvements in your wardrobe. For 2011 my main theme is fearlessness. My internal fashionista is yearning for sharp-shouldered long-sleeves, body-conscious skirts and dresses, and a killer pair of heels. But my delicate free-spirit personality finds comfort in my silk and chiffon fabrics, floaty tops, and embellished flats. This is most likely because at college I'm known as the "nice girl", the girl that will gladly do anything for her friends while not giving them crap about it. However, there's a wittier and more sarcastic side of me dying to get out in the form of sexy badass clothes. This year I'm making it a mission to meld these facets of my personality into one; in my wardrobe and personal life. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;">Rihanna is the perfect example of someone who transitions stylishly to coincide with her personal events. At the worst possible times, the duties and responsibilities of life rears its ugly head, getting in the way of our hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Life can swallow us whole when we delve into its’ unpleasant traits. Losing ourselves by stressing over the qualities of life that we cannot tame. Could I use the word “life” anymore? It’s extremely probable! The reason why I bring this topic up is because lately I’ve felt the weight of my responsibilities on my shoulders. In less than 6 hours I will be on the road to southern California where I will start the first day of my sophomore year in college. I’ve spent the entire week packing, re-packing, and shopping like a soccer mom with anger management issues. This is one of those moments where I feel as though I’ve never felt so stressed our in my life (which only of course adds to my stress). I give myself anxiety thinking of all the things I need to do, want to do, and cannot do. But in my experience I’ve learned that you can only be responsible for the things that you have control over. While I’d love to move my one hundred pound suitcase up three flights of stairs in 50s styled dress and patent leather pumps a la Elle Woods (HA!), I’ll settle for my v-neck, cut offs, and converse. The thought of opening my already-ready-to-combust-at-any-given-moment suitcase just gives me a panic attack in itself. Not to mention the fact that I would look a hot mess! The rest of my week is going to be hectic, high blood pressure inducing, and highly emotional. No amount of preparation could have prepared me for any of this. Sometimes when faced with life’s obligations sometimes the best thing you have to do is go with the flow. I’m excited to see where this week (and this year) will take me. I’m hoping that you guys will be patient as I cross this new bridge in my life.</p> <!--EndFragment-->HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-62618035163846743552010-09-16T17:47:00.000-07:002010-09-16T18:13:31.121-07:00Stated Beautifully<span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;font-size:12px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;">There's nothing that I love more than a good statement piece. A clothing item, accessory, or handbag that has so much personality you don't need to utter a word for people to get to a sense of who you are. I am constantly on the search for bold necklaces to add a hint of excitement and mystery to my wardrobe. So you can imagine how giddy I was when I found this brass fringe necklace at Macy's, a deep emerald piece at Forever 21, and a fuzzy leopard print skinny belt at Urban Outfitters. Just as Olivia Palermo states, these pieces deserve an outfit to showcase and celebrate them. I can't wait to pair these green-based hues with violet pieces, vibrant pinks, and cobalt blues (where I feel they will most stand out) and the leopard print belt with basically anything and everything. However for now, I will just admire these items as they hang in my accessories holder.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img class="media" id="fullSizedImage" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05805.jpg?t=1284685589" alt="DSC05805.jpg picture by lifes_awesome" galleryimg="no" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; width: 359px; height: 540px; " /></div></span><div><img id="fullSizedImage" class="media" galleryimg="no" alt="DSC05813.jpg" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05813.jpg?t=1284684487" height="540" width="359" style="text-align: center;border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; height: 540px; width: 359px; " /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img class="media hundredpercent" id="fullSizedImage" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05810.jpg?t=1284685814" alt="DSC05810.jpg picture by lifes_awesome" galleryimg="no" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; cursor: default; width: 500px; height: 333px; " /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img class="media hundredpercent" id="fullSizedImage" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC05821.jpg?t=1284685886" alt="DSC05821.jpg picture by lifes_awesome" galleryimg="no" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; cursor: default; width: 500px; height: 333px; " /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;">I love how quirky and fun the stripes are on the bead part of the necklace! I'll definitely use this picture for inspiration when looking for an outfit worthy of this piece.</span></span></div><div><img class="media hundredpercent" id="fullSizedImage" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/90210-Senior-Year-Baby-Season-3-Premiere-Episode-Photos-90210-14896582-500-357.jpg?t=1284684540" alt="90210-Senior-Year-Baby-Season-3-Premiere-Episode-Photos-90210-14896582-500-357.jpg picture by lifes_awesome" galleryimg="no" style="text-align: center;border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; cursor: default; width: 500px; height: 357px; " /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;font-size:12px;"><br /></span></div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-30885013121322783362010-09-14T14:54:00.000-07:002010-09-14T15:49:29.792-07:00A Colorful Approach to Organization<div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: georgia; font-size: small; ">While I appreciate the relaxing nature of summertime, there's nothing like a crisp fall breeze to get someone in the mood for change. Autumn beckons it's recipients to prepare themselves for this seasonal transition with strategic shopping and organization. There are several ways to get ready for fall, be it shopping for knitted sweaters and boots or buying more canned soups to warm yourself amidst the cold weather. However, in my case, it is to retrieve necessary supplies for my suite on campus and the start of classes this September. There's nothing I love more than scouring Target's and Office Max's alike for bright folders (that I later customize), notebooks, and pens to make my school work looking vibrant. As mundane as homework can sometimes be, nothing perks up my attitude than organized notes accented with shades of vibrant pinks, sunset oranges, and ocean blues. Color coding my notes not only makes my work look better but also gains me recognition from my professors. Not every student does classwork in a forest green pen, so it is a sure way to stand out (in a good way). These items add a vivaciousness to an otherwise tense environment and brighten a room. Organization is key during transitional periods, but never boring with a little bit of color.</span></div><div><br /></div><div><img class="media" id="fullSizedImage" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01263.jpg?t=1284503027" alt="DSC01263.jpg picture by lifes_awesome" galleryimg="no" style="text-align: left;border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; width: 600px; height: 401px; " /></div><div><br /></div><div><img id="fullSizedImage" class="media" galleryimg="no" alt="DSC01267.jpg" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01267.jpg?t=1284503027" height="401" width="600" style="text-align: left;border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; height: 401px; width: 600px; " /></div><div><br /></div><div><img id="fullSizedImage" class="media" galleryimg="no" alt="DSC01272.jpg" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01272.jpg?t=1284503027" height="401" width="600" style="text-align: left;border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; height: 401px; width: 600px; " /></div><div><br /></div><div><img id="fullSizedImage" class="media" galleryimg="no" alt="DSC01278.jpg" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01278.jpg?t=1284503027" height="401" width="600" style="text-align: left;border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; height: 401px; width: 600px; " /></div><div><br /></div><div><img id="fullSizedImage" class="media" galleryimg="no" alt="DSC01284.jpg" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01284.jpg?t=1284503027" height="401" width="600" style="text-align: left;border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; display: block; margin-top: 0px; vertical-align: middle; height: 401px; width: 600px; " /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">(Pictured: Personally customized folders/binders with matching notebooks; Billabong backpack, VS PINK laptop case, turquoise folder; violet duvet cover, folder organizer, purple corkboards, and purple decorative pillow; a page in my UChic planner )</span></span></div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-35931443873427842612010-09-10T15:28:00.000-07:002010-09-10T15:54:44.439-07:0050 is Pretty Nifty<span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;font-size:12px;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Guess what guys? This is my 50th post! I'm beyond excited in my accomplishments with this blog and hope to accomplish many more. I'm so blessed to have all you readers in my life and thought I'd celebrate this 50th post by showing off my latest purchases. It's horrible that I shop so much but yet it's so thrilling! I've already packed away all of my purchases so that I can wear them when classes start (in two weeks!). Let me know what you guys think of my purchases or if you have any tips on what to wear them with. I love new ideas! Here's to 50 more posts! The movie revolves around a couple trying to make their bi-coastal relationship work despite the problems that arise from being apart. Meeting in New York, where Erin (Barrymore) interned for a newspaper, Garret (Long) fell for this journalist despite knowing she would have to return to her home in San Francisco. While I wasn't completely captivated with the storyline of this movie, although the dialogue was entertaining, I was swooning over Barrymore's wardrobe. Outfit after outfit, Barrymore's character harmoniously incorporated looks from the two diverse areas. From the romantic silk tops to her boyfriend jeans, paired with rugged boots and an oversized leather purse as well as bohemian-inspired necklaces; Erin could have easily been mistaken for a frequent jet setter. While I wish I could show you my every outfit, this you will have to see for yourself. Watch the trailer below and let me know if you agree!</span></div><object width="440" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4eXDRgEL2AA?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4eXDRgEL2AA?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-66314253131328429652010-09-06T00:01:00.000-07:002010-09-05T23:46:26.438-07:00Fashion Victim vs Trendsetter<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Looking through my September issues from previous years; I realized that the crazy, funny, overwhelming, and insane thing about fashion and trends is that<i> everything is in fashion and nothing is in fashion</i>. A person can spend their days calculating meticulously how to be considered fashionable but never really develop a true sense of style. I'm sure we've all struggled with whether to make a clothing purchase or not at some point in our lives, the question of whether it was fashionable, weird, or even outdated brewing in our heads. Raking our brains of every style tip or knowledge that we have acquired to rationalize our purchase</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:small;">. The irony of that is is that at times what magazines deem as last season can be the hottest trend for the next season. For example, this past spring's denim on denim look. For the longest time I had followed societies unwritten rule about not mismatching denim in order to prevent myself from looking like a confused cowboy. However, it's apparent that this look can be chic and daring. Like the fabulous Heidi Klum says, "One day you're in, the next you're out." This year it was auf wiedersehen to 80s silhouettes, colors, and accessories and helloooo to 90s minimalism. So what happens when your favorite (but now deemed outdated) trend is caught in fashion's crossfires? In my opinion, you wear what you like and don't let anybody or magazine tell you differently. It's the girls who follow the beat of their own drummer who are viewed as trendsetters rather than victims. I celebrate the inspiring few who are not slaves to fashion but rather cultivate it by their personal style in hopes that these mavericks will inspire my sense of style as well.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:small;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"></span><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=agyness-on-bike-from-teen-vogue.jpg" target="_blank"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/agyness-on-bike-from-teen-vogue.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Agyness Deyn:</span></b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"> This model can rock any style on and off the runway. While I would like to say my motivation for hours of learning how to balance on a board and skate were fro something honorable like dreaming of being a renown boarder, the real reason was my infatuation with Ryan Sheckler. During my high school years I was nothing short of obsessed with this blonde-haired blue-eyed beauty and I was tired of him dating bimbos that didn't really understand him. He needed a girl like me who understood the difficulties of being dedicated to the skater lifestyle and who would accept him in spite of that. Although my dreams of meeting Sheckler were never actualized, my love for skater lifestyle was. Skating is about freedom, community, and rebellion. It doesn't really matter where you come from or who you are, what matters is what you can do. Something we can all relate to and be inspired by.<a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01174.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01174.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01173.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01173.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01172.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01172.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01183.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01183.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01177.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01177.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01195.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01195.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01190.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01190.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01186.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01186.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01196.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01196.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=DSC01199.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/DSC01199.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Inspiration:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=NJItrans_extension_jpg_max_side_540.jpg" target="_blank"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "></span></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=NJItrans_extension_jpg_max_side_540.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/NJItrans_extension_jpg_max_side_540.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-7379198401051094882010-08-30T18:44:00.000-07:002010-09-03T14:08:07.720-07:00Out of Character<div style="text-align: center;">I am <s>not so</s> secretly obsessed with candid photos of celebrities. Not unlike stalking people on Facebook, I could spend hours upon hours going through photos of my favorite fashionistas strutting their stuff in their day to day lives (which is more satisfying than creeping on the pictures of the people you graduated with but never talked to). I love how undone these triple threats look in snapshots; sometimes a complete 180 from the characters they don come screen time. The perfect example would be Ashley Tisdale. Widely known as Sharpay Evans from High School Musical trifecta, this girl is no diva off screen (style wise). She doesn't mind rocking the same cowboy boots, prefers neutrals to hot pink, and saves the flash for her high top sneakers. It definitely pays to be out of character sometimes.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=AshleyTisdale-grayandboots.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/AshleyTisdale-grayandboots.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=AshleyTisdale-whitetopandboots.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/AshleyTisdale-whitetopandboots.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=AshleyTisdaleGetsHairDoneAndyLecompteoVj1cZKuk5vl.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/AshleyTisdaleGetsHairDoneAndyLecompteoVj1cZKuk5vl.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=AshleyTisdale-motorcycleboots.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/AshleyTisdale-motorcycleboots.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=AshleyTisdale-whiteshirtandkicks.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/AshleyTisdale-whiteshirtandkicks.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-55625854052899256252010-08-27T19:42:00.000-07:002010-08-30T18:58:21.518-07:00Live Life Colorfully.<div style="text-align: center;">At the mention of Autumn, I instantly swoon over my future romance with chunky knits, knee-high suede boots, and brooch adorned beanies. My heart races at the thought of layering gray upon gray upon gray; the perfect color to purchase anything in because it works so well with other pieces. My love affair with this cozy color during cold-weather seasons is not only obsessive but also out of control. When I recently looked at my closet I noticed a variety of items in this shade, with brightly colored pieces limited in number. "How could this be?" I ask myself. (Having an excessive amount of gray may not come as a shock to some of you but you must understand that I was raised by my mother. In her world the color black is taboo, gray does nothing for anyone, and the whole world should be colored in a vibrant red!) Seeing this (and with some inspiration from Louise Roe)I instantly made it my mission to incorporate more jewel tones in my wardrobe. Colors are the spice of life. They make you feel as vibrant as you look. Here's my inspiration: <a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=147097_980.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/147097_980.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=IMG_4754.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/IMG_4754.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=CashMoneyRecordsPreGrammyPartyHonor0ESlhwj950al.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/CashMoneyRecordsPreGrammyPartyHonor0ESlhwj950al.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=lauren-conrad-yellow-dress.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/lauren-conrad-yellow-dress.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=9366a63dc2fc0e88_vanessa-hudgens.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/9366a63dc2fc0e88_vanessa-hudgens.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">What shades are your staples for this season?</div><div style="text-align: center;"> Photos courtesy of: <a href="http://thesidewalkismyrunway.blogspot.com/">The Sidewalk Is My Runway</a> and <a href="http://sketchbooksix.blogspot.com/">Sketchbook Six</a></div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128499188743844802.post-32677681202165004292010-08-26T15:19:00.000-07:002010-08-26T15:48:53.264-07:00There's Never Excess in Accessories.<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/?action=view&current=Photoon2010-08-26at1426.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p38/lifes_awesome/Photoon2010-08-26at1426.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Aren't these glasses friggin adorable? My friend gave them to me as a going away present because she left for college today. I've always coveted these glasses (thank you <a href="http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.urbanmoms.ca/juice/joeglasses.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.urbanmoms.ca/juice/2010/07/the-return-of-jonas-as-jonas-la.html&usg=__kh7sFq9BBvfjB-IlPvqilzkmefc=&h=400&w=300&sz=31&hl=en&start=65&zoom=1&tbnid=-pxNxqJOY-B39M:&tbnh=146&tbnw=111&prev=/images%3Fq%3Djoe%2Bjonas%2Bglasses%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D624%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C1613&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=380&vpy=159&dur=326&hovh=191&hovw=143&tx=74&ty=127&ei=U-12TOydA4WisAOthMWhDQ&oei=R-12TJGTAc-aOPjdweoF&esq=4&page=4&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:65&biw=1280&bih=624">Joe Jonas</a> and <a href="http://gossipland.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/hillary_duff_glasses_big.jpg">Hilary Duff</a>) but never found the right pair that suited my personality nor my face. However these wayfarer shaped pair are perfect for me. They add a nerdy chic look to any outfit I wear. Thanks N! :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9kv5jJ6tVumyfWGvnTn9OPWtGh55iNIXGLXdXUCcrqQGyFEcheghlrBKJhEmFsaZb_w9fqwPV75Drm3hqqkD05tCq0_3MPiBV4_9ii3eEGDFYymhRuRH5CSY5qutN14mz2PTlRyAT57s/s400/DSC05739.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5509853681650010962" style="cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px; " /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Also new and equally adorable is this black beanie from Urban Outfitters. I spotted this beanie last year in the store in a cream color for $24! When I came back the other day, I saw this chic black one for only $5, a price I definitely could not say no to. I'm looking forward to sporting this Hello Kitty-esque beanie in the fall with my warm knits, sequins, and cheetah prints.</div>HC!http://www.blogger.com/profile/06427700519880497105noreply@blogger.com10
