Trends: From Summer to Fall

There is something about the air in August. It makes you breathe differently, think unique thoughts apart from those of summer, it even alters the way you shop (goodbye daisy dukes, hellooo zippered cargo pants). Say it, august, kind of sounds like the word change. This transitional period lets us know that our summer days are winding down and to appreciate the ones we have left; to make the most of our time. So would it not make sense to also use this time to make the most of our wardrobes. Yes, my eager beavers, the time is now. Please drop your luxuriously adorned fur suede coats and your chunky sweaters. I know, (oh how I know!), the excitement you feel to rock the latest trends, strutting your stuff in class or your workplace. But I assure you that you will not look like the fashionista you are baking in 80+ degree weather in your winter coat. However, with a few transitional fall pieces and your summer wardrobe you can get the best of both words.

Anoraks: This military jacket can easily transform from the perfect summer jacket to a fall staple. For warmer weather I'm loving this piece with aztec prints, warm brown hues, and thrown over breezy summer dresses. In the fall, anoraks look romantic with cool grays, pastels, and sequins. I know that September issues have overwhelmed you with the idea that animal prints and military pieces belong together but this romantic take gives this jacket a fresh take.

Maxidresses: I'm obsessed with maxidresses for summer; you just throw one on with some statement jewelry paired with sandals and you are out the door. Why let go of this easy piece in fall? Chunky motorcycle boots, fair isles sweaters, and fur vests make this piece current when temperatures decrease.

Military Boots: These lace up beauties are the perfect way to add edge to any outfit. In summer they add an effortless look to your pleated shorts, cropped tops, and brightly hued dresses. In fall I love these boots with cropped, baggy jeans, sweaters, and knit leggings. If your ballsy enough to incorporate these animal print leggings, all the power to you.

Fur Pieces: Have any of you bloggers seen the spread of Julia Roberts in Elle US, Sept 2010. If you haven't I suggest you pick up one immediately! In the spread Roberts is seen in a variety of "world traveler-esque" outfits. The results, an intense obsession from yours truly for all things foreign. I love how fur vests look paired with long skirts, beaded tops, and metallic sandals. For fall, fur looks great over lumberjack plaids and glamourous over sequins.

Trend to Try: Shorts in Fall

As I have said previously, new clothing seasons are a chance to make wardrobe resolutions. Like most resolutions, we promise to cut back on our recklessness (in spending) and invest pieces worth our time, while still promising to be youthful and take (style) risks. One of my resolutions for this fall is to try wearing shorts in fall. I have seen photos of models sporting this adorable trend without any confidence to try it on my own. However this fall I will be rocking a slouchy pair of shorts complete with ankle boots, tights/over the knee socks, a loose tank, and a draped open sweater.

Spotted!

As I have made excessively clear, I am completely in love with leopard and cheetah prints. There's something that is just so luxe and glamorous about these prints that at the subtlest hint of this print in an outfit, transforms a girl altogether. Whether you're are grungy chic or girly glam, you can rock the spots with the best of them. Check out who's been spotted in spots!

Shop Much?

Today was the first day of Nordstrom's annual anniversary sale! Which is when all of newly stocked fall merchandise is discounted up until August 2nd so that shopaholics (like me!) can stock up for back to school without feeling the guilt of breaking the bank. The funny thing is whenever I go to this sale I never buy any of the anniversary sale items; however, I did pick out some of the items that I thought were adorable. Check out Nordstroms whenever you get the chance!

On my shopping adventure I saw this jacket on the sale rack of Urban Outfitters. I'm completely in love with the shape and texture of the silk rosettes sewn into this badass bomber. I fantasize of wearing this jacket over dresses with poofy skirts and skinny jeans paired with motorcycle boots. I'm absolutely in love!

I ended up buying this grey blazer in a lightweight material, a floral silk shirt, a plain purple tank, and a really cute chain necklace at Nordy's. What do you guys think of my purchases!? Are blazers over? Haha, let me know what you think!

Attent Hut!

Because I'm still obsessing over the military trend and totally dying for anoraks, I thought I'd share with you my favorite of my military-esque discoveries. I present you with Roxy's Rigor jacket! For the price of $69.50 you can walk among the likes of Burberry F/W models in this anorak in the colors: army green, khaki, or black. I love the detachable hood and the drawstring in the back. What are your thoughts? Personally, I'm completely in love!

Anorak Adoration

The introduction of a new jacket can be an overwhelming and trying time for people. You find others parting with their previously loved jackets, be them denim or a tailored blazer, for this new style. However with the anorak, seen in several F/W Collections including Burberry, you should not be discouraged. This military inspired piece works great with a variety of styles and adds a grungy chic feel to any outfit. Runway to HC Way

Hey bloggers. I thought that since I already jumped the gun on fall fashion with my fall wishlist I thought I'd do a little runway to HC way for this post. Basically just giving me an excuse to raid my closet and pose like a fool in front of my web cam. Let me know what you guys think :)

Runway: Burberry Fall 2010 - Military

HC Way: I admit my approach to this trend is a little reminiscent of the safari chic that tended to be prominent in the S/S runways but I thought the jacket and boots worked perfectly for that militaristic edge Burberry showed at Fashion Week.

Runway: Stella McCartney Fall 2010 - Cozy Luxe

HC Way: I was completely in love with Ms. McCartney's amazing luxe but comfortable looking pieces on the runway and decided to imitate it with my favorite sweaters. I'm loving the layered looks for fall but I'm not going to lie I was definitely dying of heat when I tried on this ensemble.

Runway: Prada Fall 2010 - Nerdy Chic

HC Way: I for one am completely in love with Ugly Betty so a chance to emulate Nerdy Chic was kind of like a dream come true. I loved Prada's spin on the sexy nerd by making her from the 50s. I'd kill for a pair of those wing-tipped glasses but for now I'll just make do with my lens free wayfarers :)
